Technical Scientific Meeting on Water and Sanitation

SEPTEMBER 22, 2025

Sustainable solutions for water and sanitation: Innovation, management and global technical cooperation.

The 1st Technical-Scientific Meeting on Water and Sanitation, held from 2 to 5 September in Lima (Peru), has been an inspiring event for the water sector in Latin America. For several days, experts, institutions and companies shared challenges, solutions and experiences around water and sanitation management, in an atmosphere of generous collaboration.

We have seen first-hand the challenges faced by the water sector in the region and we have also had the opportunity to consider how advanced anaerobic digestion with Thermal Hydrolysis technology can be a good solution, optimizing sludge management and aligning it with the principles of the circular economy.

It was an honor that Diego F. Polanco, participated as a speaker at the meeting, who took the opportunity to highlight an aspect that can sometimes go unnoticed: sludge. In a treatment plant, a large part of the pollutants and waste end up in the sludge line. If we really want to move towards more efficient and sustainable management, we cannot leave it behind. Making the sludge line more efficient means extracting as much energy and resources as possible, transforming a perceived problem into an opportunity.

This meeting leaves a clear feeling: the need to continue building spaces for dialogue and cooperation between the technical and scientific community.

We believe that this meeting has been very valuable and necessary, and we trust that it is the beginning of a common path towards a more sustainable future.

It was not all debate and presentations and we also has the chance to taste the famous Peruvian ceviche, a rich memory that will accompany us almost as much as the conversations that marked these days.
