This plant was conceived as an industrial-scale demonstration facility and represents a key step in the development of the technology that would later lead to the Polanco Process. At this stage, fundamental aspects of the process and its integration were validated under real conditions, design hypotheses were tested and operating parameters were optimised, reducing the uncertainty associated with scale-up. This plant acted as an intermediate step between applied research and the consolidation of a mature commercial technology.
